October 2026 Newsletter
Take a look at what's new at Somersault this month

Put your hands up if you had a great time at a Somersault event in 2026!
It's this time of year that we look back at all the fun we had, and look ahead to all the fun things to come in 2027.
Read below to learn about our next events, an upcoming community run, and see how you did in our 2026 Championship Series.
2026 Was A Blast:
We changed a lot in 2026, and we hope you loved all the upgrades. In case you missed it, here are some of our favourites changes from this year.
Podium Pins! Everyone who finishes in the top 3 of their Age Group now gets a custom Somersault Podium Pin.
We added an Enduro Tri to our Kingston Event. If you thought a swim-bike-run event was fun, just wait until you try a swim-bike-run-swim-bike-ruin race.
We made the Fall Colours Run a two day event and hired a children's entertainer for the Saturday, along with a live band and booze truck for Sunday.
SuperKids Tri joined our series, making our first kids-only triathlon. The 2026 race sold out and we had 300 athletes under the age of 13 competing across 5 different distances.
We added a Whimsy Station to our races, where you can get glammed up before your race with face glitter, hair chalk, and more. Participants have never looked so good.
Championship Series
Thank you to everyone who joined us for an event this year.
If you did even one event, you're part of our 2026 Championship Series. Now that all the 2026 Races are done, you can head over to our results page and see how you did in over a dozen different categories.
And stay tuned to see what we do this these results. We're working on something cool and hope to be able to announce it soon.
What's Next? Winter Events!
Whether you like it or not, winter is only a few short weeks away.
If you're the type of person that needs an event in your calendar to stay motivated, we have 2 really neat events: The Winterlude Triathlon and The Embrace Winter Run.
The Winterlude Triathlon is the world's oldest Winter Triathlon and involves skating on the Rideau Canal, running, and cross-country skiing (skate or classic skis are welcomed). It's truly the most Canadian event ever, and is something I think everyone should do at least once in their lives.
The Embrace Winter Run has lots of distances to choose from: 1K, 3K, 5K, 10K, 21.1K, 42.K, and new for 2027 is our 6 Hour Urban Ultra.
Choose your challenge and keep active this winter. If you stick with it, you'll be in top shape for spring 2027 and ready to tackle any goal you set.
This annual event is coming up on Sunday November 1st. It's not affiliated with Somersault, but we love this event and wanted to help spread the word.
Sindy Hooper was an amazing person, who had too many accolades to name. She was a world-class athlete, an involved member of her community, a coach who helps countless people move their bodies, and she was a fundraiser for pancreatic cancer research.
She was battling pancreatic cancer for over decade and passed away in 2024.
Over the past few years, she (and now her husband Jon) have organized an annual event called Sindy's Run during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month, which is November.
This year's run will be at the newly named Sindy Hooper Park, on Sunday November 1st, at 11am.
You can park at 17 Hansen Ave, in Kanata, check out the bake sale & 50/50 draw (bring cash), before getting ready to do a fun trail run around Kanata Beaver Pond.
They have a 3K and a 5K, and it's all about raising money for a great cause. There's no charge to run, but donations can be made at this link.
If you want to learn more about Sindy, here's a wonderful article about her. And here's a short video that shows you what you can expect at the 2027 Sindy's Run.
In Case You Missed It:
