Record Numbers for the Fall Colours Marathon Runs

Beautiful fall weather greeted the record 1460 participants in the Ottawa Fall Colours Marathon, Half Marathon, 10Km, 5Km and 1Km Runs on Sunday October 8th at the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum.

Congratulations to all participants and thanks to all of you volunteers and sponsors who contributed to a successful day.  Although there were hundreds of “winners”, the first place finishers I the various races are as follows:

Marathon
Luc Cadieux of Kanata in 2:58:27 was both he overall men’s champion, but also the Masters winner as well.  Rachel Devenport of Ottawa was the women’s champion with a time of 3:25:41.  Cathy Bodnoff of Ottawa claimed the Women’s masters title in 3:38:51.

Half Marathon
Marc Lennox of Ottawa had an excellent time of 1:16:42 in winning the half marathon over 625 others.  Leslie Sanderson was the women’s champion in a time of 1:28:28.  Perhaps the story of the day was Paula Hickman’s performance in the women’s half.  Paula who runs in the 55-59 category, placed second overall with an amazing time of 1:30:30, making her the women’s Masters champion.  Ralph Werner took home the men’s Masters title in a strong 1:21:21

10Km and 5Km
Chris McKnie in 36:11 and Jenna Wong in 39:12 were the 10Km champions, while Alain Dupuis and Kathy Bradley took the 5Km crowns.

Michael Ryan’s Most Excellent 1Km Turkey Trot
More than 180 participants entered the kids event, with Michael Rouleau and Austin McKinty placing first and second overall and Holly Riopelle of Arnprior and Nelly Letourneau placing one-two on the girls’ side of things.
