Early Bird Triathlon & Duathlon Nearly Sold Out
That’s right, we are approaching the 500 participant mark as we write, and we are only accepting the first 650 entrants this year.  Be sure to sign up very soon if you want to warm up with this first triathlon of the 2007 season.  Enter at http://www.somersault.ca/eventearlybird.htm

The Bytown Storm Triathlon Team under the direction of Greg Kealey wants to remind everyone about their summer triathlon camps for kids and youth. Eric Collard - Early Bird Triathlon Race Director
Eric Collard has signed on, as the new Race Director for the annual Ottawa Early Bird Triathlon – the first race of the year in the 2007 [ets] Eastern Triathlon Series.

”We're looking forward to another great event at Carleton University on Saturday, May 19”, Terry indicated, “It promises to be super season opening event, under Eric’s capable leadership, and a great start to the 2007 [ets] Eastern Triathlon Series.”

Wendy Hillier - Smiths Falls Classic Triathlon Race Director
Smiths Falls real estate salesperson, Wendy Hillier, has agreed to become the Race Director of Canada’s oldest triathlon event, the Smiths Falls Classic Triathlon.

“We're looking forward eagerly to an awesome race on Sunday June 24th in Smiths Falls, under Wendy’s enthusiastic leadership”, Terry indicated. We anticipate record numbers, at this, the oldest event in the [ets]eastern triathlon series – and in Canada.”

Ottawa Riverkeeper Pledge Program
Look for great prizes at this year's Riverkeeper Triathlon & Duathlon. If you collect over $250 in pledges, you will be eligible to receive a prize. Prizes are donated by local businesses that support a clean and healthy Ottawa River:  the prize contributors include Mountain Equipment Coop, Level Six, Paddle Shack, Cycle Logik, Trailhead, and others to be announced shortly.  To be eligible for prizes, make sure to bring your complete pledge form to the Ottawa  Riverkeeper representative on race day.  Check it out at http://www.somersault.ca/eventottawariverkeeper.htm

Tamara Baldwin-McNamee Steps Down as Thousand Islands Race Director

Tamara has succumbed to the demands of her many personal, business, and volunteer activities in Brockville, and decided to take a step back in her involvement in this classic triathlon and duathlon.  We are fortunate that she and her husband Scott of Cranks Bicycle Shoppe fame will continue to support and assist the event in a more limited capacity – and we thank her for the great leadership she has shown over the past few years.

Champions Challenge – Triathlon Division Expands Age Categories

We have been listening to the many of you and others, who have been asking for us to beef up the running calendar and we have responded by expanding our running event program from 4 races in 2006, to 9 events in 2007 – with more to come!

Champions Challenge – Whose the best In your age category?

Westboro 5Km Run
This is a brand new event on the shores of the Ottawa River, at Westboro Beach.  To our knowledge, Westboro has never had a run, and now it does. Stay tuned for more information on the run, and visit http://www.somersault.ca/eventottawariverkeeperrun.htm for more information and to enter.

Emilie’s Run
This exciting Women’s Only run, had an historic blast off last year, with it being labeled the “fastest” 5Km for women in Canada.  But it isn’t just for fast women, it is for all women, and we want you to consider giving it a go. Wendy Hillier - Smiths Falls Figure 5Km Eight Run Race Director
Smiths Falls real estate salesperson, Wendy Hillier, has agreed to become the Race Director of the return of one of the most unique runs n Eastern Ontario – the Figure Eight 5Km in Smiths Falls.

We're looking forward eagerly to the return of the Figure Eight Run on Sunday June 24th in Smiths Falls, under Wendy’s enthusiastic leadership.  We anticipate record numbers, and the introduction of a Smiths Charity as the cause of the event. Carleton Place Heritage 5Km Run – for the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital Foundation
The re-incarnated Heritage Run was a great success last year, raising thousands of dollars for the cause.
