The 2015 Winterman Marathon, Marathon Relays, Half Marathon, 10Km, 5Km, and 3Km will take place on Sunday February 15, 2015, at the Canadian War Museum.  The War Museum provides a stunning backdrop to this prestigious annual event - Canada's winter marathon. Winterman is being held during Canada's winter festival - Winterlude - and it is an official Winterlude event.

The War Museum is located at 1 Vimy Place in the heart of Ottawa and the National Capital Region, on the shores of the Ottawa River. The run course, an out and back loop of 5 kilometres, follows the Ottawa River, and provides a great view of the city's stunning skyline on the return run.

You can choose from the 3Km, 5Km, 10Km, Half Marathon, and Marathon distances. You may decide to run solo at any of these races distances, or you can choose to participate in one of the Marathon Relay categories. All finishers will receive a finish medal, a souvenir shirt, a performance certificate, an official time, and a National Capital Region Winterlude experience.

We invite you to come to Ottawa, to participate in or watch the 7th annual Winterman Marathon, Marathon Relays, and associated races, as well as to enjoy the other Winterlude activities - visit canadascapital.gc.ca for more details!

Each runner on an 8 person relay team runs 1 lap or 5.274Km
Each runner on a 4 person relay team runs 2 laps (in any order), or 10.548Km
Each runner on a 2 person relay team, team will run 4 laps (in any order) or 21.096Km

marathon and course time limit - 5 hours

Due to the nature of the marathon course, and our concern for the safety of all runners, there is a time limit of 5 hours to complete the Marathon or other Winterman distances.  Runners who do not cross the halfway point in the marathon in less than 2:30 (2:45 for those who take the optional 8:00 a.m. start), will receive an official Half Marathon finish time.

optional marathon early start time - 8:00 a.m.
If you are not sure you can complete the marathon or other Winterman distances within the 5 hour time limit, we encourage you to attempt a shorter distance instead - or contact us at info@somersault.ca, to book an 8:00 a.m. start time if you anticipate finishing in 5:30 or less.

Please note, this is no 'Walk' category in the marathon.

championchip timing
We use ChampionChip Timing at all Somersault races. This timing system requires that all participants wear a ChampionChip band on their ankle (anklet) during the race. This race band contains a computer chip that allows you to be timed.  No chip = no time.

You are responsible for obtaining your ChampionChip band on race morning from the Sportstats Tent near the Finish Line.  Do this at least 30 minutes before your race - earlier is better!  Races will not be held up waiting for those who forgot their band.

You must return your ChampionChip Bracelet immediately after you cross the finish line.  You are responsible for the cost if it is not returned - and it is expensive.

your results (age is as of December 31, 2015)
Results will be posted shortly after you finish the race.  Please check the results as soon as you can, to be sure they are accurate.  If  there are discrepancies, go to the Sportstats van near the Finish Line and provide them with the information you think is correct.  Results will only adjusted after race day, if it is our error.  Have the results people make changes before you leave the event site, or live with the results!

Results will be posted in the results section at somersault.ca/results.htm within 24 hours of the race.
